Time | Our Greatest Commodity

It is only with the coming of age that I now have a depth of awareness about time.

The preciousness of time is by far our most valuable commodity.

There is nothing quite like time. Nothing in our lives we can compare to time. Nothing equates or has the finite underpinnings of time.

The irony of what I’m dispelling here is that this awareness of the grandeur of time only comes with time itself.

When we are young time seems to elude us. The value of time altogether absent.

In the brevity of our younger years, time is nothing, but a number or numerical day on the calendar. On many occasions the anxiousness of youth has us urging to speed up time or longing for months to pass and years to end cause that deeper understanding of time only comes with that ever so illusive thing, time.

So why do I see time as so precious now and why did I not ever see this in my youth?

For one I lacked, much as young people do, patience. It’s true what they say. Patience is indeed a virtue.

A year felt like infinity. And now as I get older a year feels like a month.

Where has this year even gone?

The perspective I now have on time as I wind up another decade gives me insight I did not…
